Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced candidate for Cost Consultant to undertake design development and delivery of our projects. The MTO program is to train the young and experienced resource in how to operate in the UK market so they can leverage their skills that they have and are acquiring in the local market, at a global level. The successful candidate will work closely with other team members and external consultants to ensure the delivery of exceptional design solutions that align with our brand vision. This is a remote role, offering the flexibility to collaborate with our UK-based team from abroad however the successful candidate will need to have a very good understanding of UK Building Regulations and prior experience of working on development projects in the UK.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed Bills of Quantities (BoQs) for construction projects based on project specifications, drawings, and site conditions.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates for construction works, including materials, labor, and overheads.
  • Use Revit, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and other relevant software to create and manage cost estimates and BoQs.
  • Review tender documents, project specifications, and drawings to ensure accuracy and completeness of the estimate.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, MEP, and civil drawings.
  • Assist in preparing cost plans, feasibility studies, and cost reports for various stages of construction projects.
  • Provide cost advice and recommendations to project teams and stakeholders to control costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Assist with preparation and evaluation of subcontractor bids and proposals.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to ensure that the project stays within budget.
  • Regularly update cost estimates and BoQs as the project progresses and changes occur.
  • Conduct value engineering exercises to optimize costs without compromising quality.
  • Ensure that all estimates are aligned with current market rates and standards.
  • Maintain a detailed database of rates, costs, and suppliers for accurate and efficient future estimations.

Required Skills & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and cost estimates for construction projects.
  • Proficiency in using construction estimation software such as Revit, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, and related tools.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in cost planning, cost management, and financial control of construction projects.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to ensure accuracy in all aspects of cost estimation and BoQ preparation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, construction regulations, and industry standards.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
